Thinking about getting the MA but am afraid it won't fit on most planes. We will be traveling quite a bit from now til the baby will outgrows the MA. Have considered getting a Touriva/Regal Ride but we'll also be going on road trips after flying to our destinations and baby will be more comfy in the MA. Has anyone flown with the MA on Independence Air/FlyI, Southwest (they usually have pretty narrow seats), Delta, American, United, or Continental? Thank you.

I just flew last week on Independence (small plane) with a Marathon and had no problem. We've also flown Song, United, and Delta with no problems. HTH.

I fly with my MA and so do MANY others on this board. You can do a search (there is a search button on the top left in the menu bar) and you will find lots of posts.

I have traveled on ATA and SWA and have not had one problem, other than a misinformed flight attendant telling me I had to install the seat forward facing, which was incorrect as my son was under a year and under 20 lbs.

Here's a post in which I describe my travel routine in detail: http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=13&topic_id=23379&mesg_id=23379&listing_type=search

Also read the post below about traveling with a Wizard; they are essentially the same seat.

Good luck and happy travels!

I've flown Independence and Southwest (and American and USAir and Air Canada and Delta and probably some others) with my Marathon with no problems.

You lift the armrest and the Marathon fits just fine.

You should not have problem fitting the MA on airplanes. I have just recently flown with Continental on 4 different planes and both the MA and WZ fit well.

Just remember to turn the female part of the airplane seat's buckle over so that the release flap is facing down (rather than facing up as normal). This way, you can release the seatbelt by lifting the flap away from the carseat back. If you have the flap facing up as usual, it will end up facing the back of the carseat and lifting that to release the carseat would be quite hard (bruised hand to prove it, lol)

Tam's buckle trick is for FF installation. You'll have no problems installing RF.

Ya probably right. It has been a lonnnggg time since I last installed on rf, lol.

This recent trip, I forgot to flip the buckle and did I have a bruised arm to show for that stupidity! So, I a tad touchy ;)

Thanks.

Here is a tip for RF:

Don't try to thread the seatbelt under the cover, just bring it up through the holes and across on top of the car seat cover. I like to push the belly pad down to help cover the buckle of the seatbelt, since the baby will be sitting right on top of it.

we have flown with the MA on Continental and it fits fine but it is a major PIA to haul around and install in such a tight space. On our subsequent plane trip, we opted to just get the Regal Ride. It was much lighter and could be dragged on it's base on the carpet. I know it's not as padded as the MA but DD did not complain about it.

HTH

I just recently flew on American, United, and IA with a Marathon and had no problems. As far as the seatbelt/buckle is concerned, I just ask for an extender for the seatbelt and arrange it so the buckles are both on the outside of the seat - one on the right and one on the left. It took a couple of tries to get the hang of it, but now I can get the carseat installed in about a minute.
