How tight should the harness be? I make it too tight says DH...
DD does complain when I stick her in her seat, but I think that is normal right?
She isn't squished in or anything, but there certainly isn't room for her to move, which I thought was the idea?
Call me crazy but tight = safe in my brain.

Can some one tell me how to tell if it is too snug or too loose?

TIA!

Test for tighness at the shoulder...you want it to be snug, like a bra band, so that if you go to pinch any of the harness fabric lengthwise, you can't get any between your fingers to pinch.

Basically, not squishing, but not slack or loose at all, and of course chest clip even with the armpits is important, too.

Hope that helps...I really need to get pictures of that "can't pinch fabric" way of testing! People still say you should only get one finger in under the harness by the shoulders, too, but who's finger? My tiny pinky or daddy's big thumb? Big difference, there!

Mine too!

I know I sorta squish the kids though - but they just laugh and don't complain.

Not a silly question at all! I was going to do a little research or ask Julie about the same thing after all the hoopla this past week re: using correctly *every* time. Anyway thanks for bringing it up! :)

Hey Christy-
Saw your note the other day.... :).... I'm still happy with the Marathon! (And still tempted by babyage's sales sometimes. eek!)

I had heard the "1-finger" rule from the cops before. I like Julie's "cant pinch an inch" rule -- I'll start going by that. I have never been able to get the Marathon straps as tight as the snugride's... still seems safe, just a different fit I guess with that whole HUGS deal taking up space.

Thanks Julie!

Was away for the weekend, sigh. Sometimes I hate holiday weekend all the running around...

Anyway I will be sure to that pinch test, though I am printing your post to make sure that I am looking at everything correctly.

Marisa, Glad to hear that you like the Marathon, I just love the cover we picked! DD pats it like her touch and feel books, it is too funny. And hey lay off the Maragritas, I'm jealous!
