My 14 month old is finally ready to move out of his infant seat. He's at 20 lbs and 27" (it's the height that did it). The minimum for switching to forward facing is 20 lbs and one year but is there a reason to do that? Is rear facing safer (his roundabout will go up to 30 lbs. rear facing).

I'd love to hear some opinions on this. Thanks in advance.

Yup, keep him rearfacing, it's definitely safest :)
See the link in my sig and "front facing too soon?" for heaps of info and links.
And thanks for asking! He's a lucky baby to have a mama who cares.

You might want to do a search on this. Click on Search at the top of the page, click on Advanced Search, and make sure you select the Carseat Forumn from the pull-down menu after typing in your search. There has been ALOT of talk about this in the past, and you will find tons of info. By the way, most BBB parents try to keep their kiddos RF until the limits of the carseat, which in alot of cases is 3 years old or more! :)

Keep him RF til the weight limit.

My 21 mo ds is still happily rearfacing in his Marathon and will be for quite some time since he's only 23 lbs!

ETA: You sure did get a lot of use out of that infant seat! Wow!
