Does anyone know if I'll be able to install my seat centerboard? I am so hoping it will have LATCH connectors for that position! I so want my daughter in the center. carseatdata.org only has records of driver sideboard installs. I have a Wizard and a DC, I prefer the DC so that is the one I'll likely be installing in the new car.

Thanks!!!!

Nope :(... unless it's obviously in the manual that it's ok, then you'll need to use the seatbelt in the middle.

Don't let it take away from the fun of getting your new car, though!

I could be wrong (and Julie has installed a lot more seats than I have), but we had a rental car a few months ago that I thought was an Altima and you could use LATCH in the middle (it was a rental car when travelling, so I don't remember for sure what car).

The car manual said that the LATCH anchors were evenly spaced in the back and that you could use the two outboard or the middle (but not both, because only one seat per anchor).

So . . . double check the car's manual.

I sure hope so! :) (btw, it's kind of fun to read manuals...we just got a new Ford and they have some incredibly good safety tips... :))

What car did you end up getting? I thought you were looking at a Mazda that seats 6? We don't really *need* a new car at the moment, but I find myself constantly checking out what's available!

It's a 2005 Altima. The book says not to install with LATCH centerboard, rats!!!!!!

I'm going to try to use a lap belt installation, though with the "hump" in the middle of the back seat this may not work. I had a Wizard in our 98 Altima (centerboard) and it was never quite as good as the installation in my Corolla. The tether helped but I always felt it was tilted just a bit too far back (even though the inspector said it was fine). I'll keep you posted.

DH got a "you've been pre-approved" letter from the local ford dealer, and took it as a sign that he MUST have a Ford Escape Hybrid! It's very cool :). I still have my Hondy Odyssey, but am still really coveting that snazzy Mazda 5 (that seats six... who names these things? LOL).
