Britax in a Subaru & Nissan

Hello all!

My three month old DS is already nearing 17 pounds, and I am just realizing I need to get him a new carseat soon! I have decided on a Britax, probably a decathlon, and I have an '05 Subaru Outback. Since DH and I both travel with him, I suppose I need one for his '03 Nissan Frontier as well. Neither of the vehicles have LATCH in the center. Am I correct in assuming that the seat will be safer installed with only the vehicle belts in the center vs. on the outside seats with the LATCH?

It's me again...

So looking back at the older posts and my car's manual, it's looking like the outer LATCH positions will be safer. And I suppose it will be easier to get him in and out of the car that way as well.
