What do you love and hate about it?

I'm thinking of getting one to match my P3. Are they safe? Reliable? Easy to use? Comfy?

Thanks so much!

Hard to install, kind of hard to adjust, very small and outgrown quickly... other than that, it's fine, but seems awfully expensive.
They are also discontinued and awaiting a new model with improvements (ALL seats have to go to 22 pounds and 29 inches, which, for a baby, can be months and months more use than a 20lb, 26 inch seat).
Do you have the new P3 with the universal carseat attachment strap? You can put a Snugride or Chicco Key Fit on that just fine. Don't worry about matching... you shouldn't keep your baby in the car seat longer than about 20 minutes on each side of the car trip (bad for the spine and contributes to plagiocephaly), and you'll have the P3 for like 4 years, the carseat for about 1... so matching isn't as important as it seems now, once you have the baby :)

Just to mention as well, some of the snugrides match pretty well with the P3's. We have a P3 Safari and the central park snug ride and they are actually a really good match. Also, we moved DD from the snug ride to a Britax Boulevard at 4 1/2 months, so you may not even get a year out of your infant car seat.

ETA: I haven't seen the fabrics on the new Snugrides so I don't know how well they would match.

Yeah, you're right, sorry to have said a year... all the new seats go to 22 pounds and 29 inches, which for a lot of kids is a year, but for a lot more, it's not. Definitely the smaller, older models are lucky to last 4-6 months.

We actually moved DD before she reached the limits of the seat. She was just getting too uncomfortable in it. I could barely carry DD in the car seat when she was 14 lbs. I am not sure I would be able to carry her at 22 lbs. Just curious, have you ever lifted one of the new snugrides with a 22 1lb infant? Maybe I am just a weakling :-).

Oh yeah, you should see me... I'm a female body builder! LOL, NOT! (though my shoulders get very defined when I do a LOT of seat checks...all that tugging and pushing, you know...).

It's just a conveeeeenience thing to be able to use a seat for a long time...If you WANT to do some air travel or go in a friend's car or need something narrow for 3 across, or leave your baby at the sitter's, it's SO much easier to install and carry an infant seat around. Yeah, even with my last baby I mostly put her in her convertible (it was a super-duper cushy Evenflo Medallion... I loved that seat... sigh...), but boy, sometimes, just having the super-easy infant seat was a lifesaver (and yes, I'm a major babywearer, too...I wasn't hauling that massive kiddo around in her seat!).

And with my next baby, I'll be going from Virginia to Hawaii at least a couple times a year...I want that infant seat to last as long as humanly possible :D

Just wanted to add another match for the Snugride and P3 - we have the P3 in Black Sable and the Snugride in Casimar (black and white) - it's a good match. I don't plan on using them together but DH is very big on all baby stuff being matchy matchy, even if it will never be used together or in the same room! *rolling eyes* For the most part, our baby gear doesn't match, so I indulged him in this area. :)

I haven't tried others, but...

(1) It seems REALLY heavy and the handle isn't that comfy
(2) DS is 3.5 months and almost out of it
(3) I get "seat envy" when I see other people's canopys as the one on the PV sucks.
(4) Liner has to be handwashed and dried. This may be true of all of them though.

With that said...I do like the fact that it has the base as we switch him between cars alot.

I love my P3 and bought the PV as it is very safe and it matched. Now I realize it doesn't matter about matching and probably would have looked into others to use with the P3.

Good luck. Amy
