I see a lot of good comments about the Platinum Cargo, but the booster slots seem so strange to me. Aren't they the kind that prevent the belt from tightening back up if the kid leans forward and loosens them up? Are they more free sliding than they look?

There's a lot of confusion about these booster guides...I've never (ok, very, very, very rarely) even seen a tech understand the issue with these things (!!!)...Anyway, they CLAMP the seatbelt in place...there is NO movement when they are properly used. The ones consumer reports was wigging about was the ones that are supposed to be 'open' but are so small and tight that the belt DOES get stuck loose as soon as the kiddo leans forward. Also, they aren't required...if the belt fits fine without them (as it usually does for a 40 pound kiddo or one who is too tall for the harness), then you can ignore them altogether.
