I hate, hate, hate DH's Alpha Omega, and DS is getting close to 40 pounds. I want to keep him in a 5pt harness as long as I can--he's a good sport and doesn't mind being buckled up at all. I have been reading about the Apex 65, and wonder if that might be a good choice for DS's next seat (at 3 1/2 yo he's 38# and about 41-42" tall). DH drives a 2005 Nissan Murano, and has headrests on both sides of the back seat. Either that, or I will suck it up and buy another MA for DH's car (since it will be a while before DS gets to 65#).

Would the Apex be a good choice for grandma's car (2004 Lexus RX330)?

Well, it's basically a giant AO (alpha omega)... but more like a giant Intera, so nicer, and nicer as a booster... I hear it installs pretty well, at any rate, and it's simple, not much to mess up with the harness, and the harness is *probably* a thicker material than your old AO (they've REALLY improved it lately), so that might be better...and if you have to buy 2 of them, and he's pushing 40 pounds, well... It's probably a fine choice (esp. since you know about the headrest requirement).

Thanks again, Julie!

I sent the amazon.com link to DH at work, and instead he went cybershopping. He got a look at the Eddie Bauer High Back booster in black leather and wants DS to "ride in style." I think I can safely veto that choice, LOL! :)

LOL... <gag, barf>. Those were 199 at Lullaby Lane, and I actually sold one once (kicking and screaming, but the mom INSISTED).
I guess they need a leather Apex, rofl!
