Anybody dislikes the Onyx fabric on their Britax carseats? How about Cougar?

I sent Marilyn an e-mail asking her when she expects to get more Onyx in, she said that she has received so many returns because people didn't like the feel of that fabric when they saw it IRL. This gets me worried. If you have seen Onyx fabric IRL please let me know what your thoughts are. TIA!!

ETA: Questions about the cougar fabric. DH to my surprise suggested Cougar as our second choice. I am not sure because I have only boys. Do they look "girl-like" to you?

Horrible! Try doing an advanced search using "Onyx". I've heard some good things about it (easy to clean), but we *hated* ours.

I don't have one, but if I remember the previous posts, there are different Onyx's for different seats. One type of Britax had an Onyx that was like a vinyl table cloth, and one type's Onyx wasn't as bad.

Definitely do a search for the old posts to be sure! It definitely didn't sound like something I'd like. :)

I just ordered the Cougar for DS and didn't think it was girly at all. I haven't seen the Onyx in person, but didn't like the looks of it online - I wanted a plush fabric that matched our cars, and the Cougar fit the bill.

That's odd! We just purchased the Boulevard in Onyx and had to wait a few days because they can't keep it in stock at Buy Buy Baby. FWIW, we love it. I think it's the best looking fabric of the Britax line. Of course, I'm a guy! My wife preferred the other fabrics.

I don't know about the Onyx, but I do know, that when asked, my 4yo ds picked the Floral Bouquet pattern, 4 or 5 times in a row. (I asked several weeks running, as he's been known to change his mind, lol!) And when it got here, he was VERY happy to sit in it, it's really plush.

I just got my 2 new Regents in Cougar yesterday and I really like them. They are very plush. I have 2 girls, but wouldn't say they are terribly girly. I too was interested in the Onyx at first, but saw it IRL at a local store, and didn't like it at all. It was definitely very plastic- it reminded me of tent fabric. They also had Sahara, which was "plasticy" too. So, I took a gamble and ordered the Cougar from Albee. Fortunately, I really liked it.

Regarding the Onyx fabric feels nice on BV: Search on "Onyx" brought up several past threads that commented on how they actually are nicer on BV. Some even said that Onyx on BV feels differently from Onyx on Parkway. Maybe they change the material or vendor for the material?

I think I have made up my mind. I am going to get a Parkway and a Regent, both in Cougar. Thank you ladies! My CC is going to get another heavy workout. LOL

I agree, I thought it was the best looking for the Boulevard faberics, but I just hated how plastic like it felt.

Just ordered a Regent in Cougar from Babyuniverse.com. I finally gave up looking for a "deal"... Went through fatwallet.com as Lori suggested and am waiting for 7+% rebate. Thanks Lori! :)

Since there is no deal and free shipping is a standard fare, I will be ordering the Parkway later. Let's check out the Regent first.
