I searched the archives here, as well as the car seat compatibility site but can't find anybody who has put a MA in their Blazer! FWIW, we have a 4dr 1997 Blazer - right now DD is in her Snugride2, installed in the outboard passenger position and the SR fits fine, though I leave the handle up. We can move the front seat all the way back and not touch the car seat though. Will a MA fit back there? Also, it looks like a really tall seat - can the driver still see over it when backing up? Hopefully having her on the passenger side of the car will help with this, but I hate to create more blind spots for DH. :) DD just had her 2 month checkup and is off the charts for height and 96% in weight so I realized I better figure out what I want for sure so I can start watching for deals!

Also, does anyone know much about the Fisher Price new seats that will be like the MA and RA? Are they going to be as good? When will they come out? I think I'll probably stick with the real Britax unless the FP are really as good for less $$.

One last question...I was reading some old posts and saw mentioned that when installing the SR without the base, only the lap belt should be running across baby's lap - and the shoulder belt should just be going straight to the buckle (or locking clip). True? I was running both shoulder & lap belt across DD's lap...whoops! She almost never rides in her SR without the base, but I'd like to be safe all the time!

Thanks so much!

I don't see why it wouldn't fit, if the Snugride does.. Oh, in fact a mom on another board HAD a MA in an older Blazer, no problems.

I think the picture on the side of the SR shows just the lapbelt going through the seatbelt hooks on the side? Your manual should definitely be clear. But yeah, definitely just the lapbelt... it's much easier that way, too ;)

Thanks Julie! Is the MA much taller than the SR-with-handle-up when installed? I'm thinking that though the MA has to be a taller seat to hold bigger kids, the base on the SR adds extra height to maybe make them similar height when installed? Wondering what I'll have to try to look over in my backseat when backing up. :) (sorry for any typos, nak)

Yeah, it's somewhat taller, but since it will be behind a front seat, I really don't think you'll notice while it's rearfacing (sometimes people can't see over them when they are installed in the center...)...when it's forward facing a couple years down the road, you'll get much more acquainted with your side mirrors for backing up (I've personally lost hope of ever seeing everything out my own rear window ever again, now that kids have to sit back there till they are 15, lol).

I have a Boulevard installed in my 1999 Blazer, outboard behind the passenger. I think it fits better than the SnugRide I was using before--maybe just because it's so darn tight!

I haven't noticed any additional blind spots with it.

P.S. I've sent my info into the car seat database, so it should be there when they update it!
