I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem. I have a 2006 Marathon and the strap that you pull on to tighten DS in is wearing on both sides. I also have a 2005 Marathon in another car and this isn't happening to the strap on that seat (it seems like the mechanism you pull through is different on the 2005 and 2006 versions). Is this a common problem? If I call Britax CS will they simply provide me with new straps?

Thanks,
Heather

Yeah, everyone (well, you know, the general 'everyone', lol...it's really common :P) has this problem...you have to really make sure you pull straight out, not at all to the sides, when you tighten it. They should replace it free if it's under a year old, and for a few bucks if it's over a year, and it's pretty easy to replace yourself.

Who do you contact to get a replacement strap? Mine is doing this too!

Thanks,

So, is this a safety problem, or just a cosmetic problem? My DDs is a little worn on the edges as well.

It's a cosmetic problem that 'can become' a safety problem... in a crash, the entire force of the harness is going to be bottlenecked at that adjuster, and you want as much integrity of the strap as possible, as much cloth gripped in those metal teeth as you can get :).

1-888-4-BRITAX is the number to call for replacement parts (you need your seat model and serial number from a sticker on the seat when you call...it's under the cover, probably on the outside of the seat shell on the side where the head goes)
