View Full Version : Two ?'s... Marathon in a Pilot and safe toys for the car seat

I have two questions...

#1- Soon I am going to install a Marathon in a Honda Pilot, rear-facing. For a six month old, do you still have the seat at 45 degrees, and if anyone has a Pilot with a Marathon do I need something like a pool noodle or towel for the installation? I plan on making an appt. with a CPS tech, but it might take a while to get the appt.

#2- DD loves to play with the toys I have hanging from her Companion... 'bugs on board' and an infantino toy that jingles. Are there any toys out there for a 6 month old that is safe for a rear facing car seat?

The rearfacing tether is what does the good recline on a Marathon, I'm pretty sure it'll install great in a Pilot without fussing with noodles or anything. (Just look around under the front seats for a proper spot to tie the tether connector strap...there is a decent description in the MA manual about Swedish tethering).
I think you can get some linkadoos or whatever they are called and clip them to the headrest and clip soft toys onto them to hang down the seatback (I hope you haven't been leaving the handle up on the companion in the car, that's forbidden.....).

:)

My IL's have a Pilot and I never could find a plact to tether the seat to RF. I fought with it for 45 minutes trying to get the right install. It would be so much easier if Honda would put latch anchors on the center position as well. The seat was extremely upright and uncomfortable for DS.

I guess I am just used to my Tahoe. I can have both seats installed perfect and tight within 10 minutes.

BTW Julie...do you know if I can leave the handle up on the new Graco Safeseat? Do you have an opinion on it safety wise? I like the Key Fit but since my babies tend to be big and both outgrew their snugride by 3 months I thought I would go with the higher weight limit on the safeseat. I am going to try to keep this baby in an infant carrier as long as possible to make things a little easier on me. :)

My DS is in a RF Marathon in our 2005 Pilot behind the driver's seat. I was able to tether the seat under the driver's seat, and it doesn't need any pool noodles and installed quite easily. As Julie mentioned, I hang some toys off of the headrest to keep him entertained. HTH.

Bummer the top tether isn't easy on the Pilot....

Yeah, you can leave the handle up on the safe seat :) (I'll be getting one probably before you are due so check often for reviews... )

The Companion and I had a love-hate relationship. It's really safe and comfy, but you need to be Wonder Woman to get the handle back when the seat is in the base, and took me months to get used to. BTW... The toys were magnetic to the canopy unless we had the Companion on the stroller frame. :)

Just curious, why does the handle have to be down when in the car?
