Hi,

Currently have my DD #1's Marathon installed with LATCH. What are the limits for the Vehicle LATCH in a 2005 Odyssey? I looked in the car manual and it doesn't say. However, the Marathon manual said to assume that the vehicle LATCH is 48 lbs unless otherwise stated. Should I assume that or should I call Honda and see if they know?

Thanks,

according to this, 40 pounds
how you are supposed to know that if you are an ordinary parent, don't ask me

Wow! I have an Acura MDX and a Marathon and Roundabout, both tethered. One rf and one ff. My DD is 44 pounds. Should she not be tethered? I use it with the seatbelt, no latch.
Thanks!

Hey Jami, its Jodi from NYC :)

As I understand it, we are technically above the tether limits (lawyers lawyers everywhere) BUT if your read these links:

http://www.saferidenews.com/html/LATCH_P8.htm

http://www.saferidenews.com/html/LATCH_P49.htm

they basically say that you should tether because the benefits outweigh the risks (don't get me started, I think it is RIDICULOUS that parents need to be research experts to find the limits and then physicists to make these decisions!!!)

Wow, lets make it even easier for parents to misuse car seats.

I have a subaru and there is nothing in the manual on LATCH maxium weights. According to the PDF linked above, I can use latch until 60lbs. If it wasn't for this board, I wouldn't know that. How many parents are using latch with the kid over the weight limit and don't know it?

Latch weight limits should be in the car manual... I know they aren't always... but they should be... so that anyone can know this.
