View Full Version : Am I going to hate the DC adjuster? Anyone BTDT?

Need two car seats: one for 20 month old DD and one for new baby (though DC#2 will be in snugride until limits). Can't decide whether to get two DC's or a DC for baby and a MA for DD or 2 MA's. After reading lots of posts, I'm still not sure whether I really need the inserts for the baby or the extra crotch position for DD (she is super tall, consistently off the charts for height). And then if I do decide on the DC, will I hate the adjuster? Help, I've got pregnancy-brain and mommy-brain and I can't seem to decided on anything!

We have both a MA and a DC. I personally like the DC adjuster more for RF and the MA for FF. I think that is is really a personal opinion. The DC adjuster is very sticky at first and slightly harder to tighten all the way, it took a month or so before it got completely smooth. I like that with the DC adjuster there is little/no chance that avi will figure out how to loosen the harness. Avi moved to his DC at around 5 months and it was nice to have the extra padding at that time, he was ~20 lbs and to big for his Snugride. I do not think the padding is needed and if i knew what i know now we would have gotten him the BV.

Sorry if i was rambling, in short i really do not know if you would like it or if it would bother you, do you have a store that you could try it out IRL?

Thanks for your suggestions. I definitely will try them out, but the adjusters on the floor models are way different than a new one. Maybe I'll get a DC for baby and save a little money and get MA for DD.

Anyone elso BTDT?

I personally find my Decathlon and Roundabout adjusters to me a lot easier than my Marathon and Wizard Adjusters.

The DC and RA are more like a one-pull adjuster and the MA WZ and BV have more like a tug-tug kind of adjuster.

They're both easy to use IMO.
I just find the DC and RA easier.

I know there used to be a lot of posts and reviews of the DC having a REALLY hard adjuster - but I have yet to experience that - IMO its just as smooth as my RA! :)

Hopefully this reply won't get lost since it's been a little while since i posted. You mentioned that if you had to do it again, you would get the BV. So does this mean that even though Avi is on the bigger side (my DD is 35 in. and 28 lbs at 18 months) that you don't really need the adjustable crotch strap on the DC? I know the BV does not have that.

I really do not notice a big difference between the MA crotch strap and the DC. The DC has been at the farthest one since about a month after we got the seat. I do not think either of them are very far but if you keep the belly pad on you can pull it out holding onto the pad.

I would get the BV because it has the extra SIP and the adjustable harness with infinite positions.
