I have seen a few children in Britax seats with their head totally above the top of the seat. I know they are britax seats because of the covers etc. I saw someone driving today next to me with their child in either a MA/RA- couldnt tell and the child's head was not in the seat at all. Is that allowed? I dont know all the rules and limits yet because avi is still young but from seeing the seat is it possible for a childs head to be out of the seat but their shoulders still under/at the top shoulder straps?

Thanks

As long as the top of the ears are still below the top of the carseat OR the top harness slots are at the same level or above the shoulders, when ff, then it's still okay.

Probably the RA, it's pretty short compared to the MA... Yeah, top of ears at top of seat shell is the absolute topping-out point (shoulders are above the straps by then, but their main concern is whiplash...).

Anywho... probably they ARE too tall, but Britax parents are educated parents and want to keep those kids harnessed as long as possible, I guess (um...I'm being tongue-in-cheek here...you can spend a heap of money on a seat and still use it completely wrong...sigh)

I thought that if the childs entire head was out of the seat they were most likely to big. I also thought that most britax parents were educated but picture this scene:

I work at a home day care center for school- my internship. The parents have their 4 year old FF in a MA and their 6 year old in a Husky- YAY! I saw the father driving the car the other day with the 4 year old on his lap! He was moving it down the street but it is a fairly busy street and you never know what could happen. I was in shock and am so upset that i saw it happen! UGH!!

Well i can only hope that the children who are too big for their seats height wise are properly secured.

Thanks
