I just broke my leg and so my husband will need to drive my daughter to school while my mom moves in with us and takes care of the baby. We need a seat in DH's car too now immediately. Both my kids are really big - they are in a RA and MA right now, but I'm planning ahead. I have to order online since I'm totally laid up and my DH is running around like a crazy person trying to go to work and keep things together until my mom arrives :(

Will a Britax Regent work in a Ford compact car? It's an '86 and no one sits in the passenger seat so it can go all the way forward to make space.

The other option is to put the Regent in my Volvo wagon and put the MA in my husband's car if that would fit better.

TIA for any help - as you can tell we're a bit of a mess here, but I was to avoid making a rash decision because of the circumstances!

I don't have specific experience with an early model compact Fords, but my Husky (older name for Regent) has installed well in newer model compact Fords as well as small Toyotas.... Have you search the Carseat Compatibility Database?

OW!!!! I hope you recover quickly and have good pain management (er...drugs...lol)!

I know the Regent fits in a 90's Escort easily...and I got one in an 80's Toyota with little issue. Remember it has to be top tethered for a kid over 50 pounds. www.carseatdata.org might have your car and either Super Elite, Husky, or Regent listed, but I don't *think* you'll have a problem.

Thanks so much for your responses - I definitely feel reassured - just didn't want to do something stupid in my percocet haze ;)... The regent and husky are not listed on the compatibility db but the MA and RA are listed as fitting very well in the Ford Contour (the model we have), so I think I can take my chances... esp considering that no one needs to actually "sit" in the front passenger seat so it can be pushed all the way forward :)!

Thanks again for your anecdotal info - always so helpful here to have some personal experience shared so I don't feel like I'm buying blind.

You ladies are awesome!

Oooh, hope you recover quickly and your mom getting there to give you guys a bit of a relief...

I have installed 2 Huskys in a friend's old Ford Contour and they are not the easiest to install. But having said that, they fit fine and not the worst fit either.

But if I have a choice, I would probably do the MA/RA in the Ford and the Regent in the Volvo. Just know those combinations work better for me.
