Anyone heard of it? DD is a long way off from a booster, but I keep seeing the TV ads and was wondering if its any good. The concept is intriguing.

TIA

You lucky Canadians are the only ones getting it so far :P I know one mom who bought it, but it doesn't work well in her Grand Caravan, so she's returning it, I guess a newer model with a dial adjuster is coming out soon (???).
I think it's awesome for older kids who are probably emabarassed by normal boosters.... and yes... <gasp> I'll probably have my friend send me one or two of them <wink>

Funny thing is, its the first child restraint of ANY sort that I've seen advertised by a retailer here. I do like the concept, especially for occasional users like grandparents -- seems like it would be easy to use (assuming it fit the car, like you said).

I hadn't thought about the "coolness" factor, that's a great point.

I have a question -- is there a difference in safety between HBBs and LBBs? And, at what age is a LBB appropriate?

TIA

HBB's are 70% better at protecting against head injuries in side impacts... so this would definitely be better in a car with side curtain airbags (I'd use it in the 'middle' of my minivan...the captain's chair slid away from the door). You wanna use highbacks as long as possible, just because of that head protection, but for part time use, a lowback is fine for kids 5+, IMNSHO... better for kids who are just plain too tall for highbacks but still don't fit in a seatbelt safely, like age 8+.

Thanks! We have years to go on this issue. You might want to check out my post in the Oh Canada forum about a recent car seat check I had done.... Interesting info from the tech who is actually a trainer and goes all over North America.

But, I know DD's grandparents have a LBB for the other grandchildren (used in a '04 Mercedes wagon, which I'm pretty sure has SCAs). Also, a few of the parents at DD's daycare use LBBs (with children who are only 3. Sigh.). I've always been curious.

Our plan post-MA is: US Regents, then Parkways if necessary (depends how long my long-torsoed beauty lasts in the Regent!). If's she's school age post-Regent, then the Clik would maybe be something we consider. That's years away. Maybe by then we'll have some better choices here?

Thanks again!

I think you'll be a little surprised how much longer your dd fits, but only time will tell (my dd got easily to 6x size shirts in her Marathon, though yeah, she was barely 40 pounds)

I wish they would make all boosters with Latch NOW! Hope they come to this realization soon!

There was a weird problem with the first boosters they tried like this...they were rigid LATCH with no armrests... the dummies flew forward off them, submarining into/under the belt. So researched ceased... looks like this one holds the lapbelt down and that would make all the difference in the world (kids don't have developed hips like adults do, to keep the lapbelts low they way they should be), but of course one failure made us have to wait many extra years (ever wonder why there were no shoulderbelts in the middle of back seats? same sort of reasoning...cadavers got decapitated by shoulderbelts, so auto manufacturers refused to put them in...of course, how many of us are driving around with dead bodies in the back seat? lol ie, cadavers aren't livig people, who were proven for absolutely decades to *benefit* from shoulderbelts...progress goes so slowly sometimes....).

And, just thinking...why did those first latched boosters fail, while Volvo has boosters that appear to be no different? They fold right down and the kid sits on them, and no armrests hold the lapbelt back...

Ok, I should be doing laundry... :D
