Chloe Elizabeth arrived last week and I and have a question about the Combi Connection that I've got.

A little background here too...
My hospital was really impressive on carseats this time, to reduce liability, they've gone to a 25 point checklist to go over the carseat with the baby in it before you can leave the hospital! They've also got when the local check is on all the doors.

Anyway, I knew before the nurse got there with the checklist that the straps were too loose, they didn't pass the pinch test on Chloe's shoulders. I couldn't get the splitter plate past the place where the strap threads thru the bottom of the seat. If I could do that, I could get it tight enough, I need maybe an inch worth of pull more on the tightener. Luckily for me, the nurse noticed it too, but let us go anyway, because it was obvious that there was no way it was going to tighten without some serious rethreading knowledge that neither one of us had.

That's basically the question...How do I either 1) Unthread the tightener strap so I can re-thread on the outside of the seat, or 2) Simply get the straps tighter?

Thanks,
Ann

Ok, I rethreaded mine to the newborn size... yeah, there's a lot of slack in that harness...and no, there's no way to re-do the adjuster strap to make it tighter. You are using the infant insert, right? And it's still a pretty loose harness? Well...how loose, really? Can you pinch the harness fabric a lot? How about the sideways finger at her shoulder (it IS fine to be able to put a finger under the harness at her shoulder).

Were you planning to leave the house for a few weeks, anyway? (<tongue in cheek>.... it's quite annoying when seats don't fit the way we want them to!)

Ok, the last two pictures are my Connection... that's my finger pointing at the plastic tab that gums up the works...no, you can't take the adjuster strap out of the adjuster and route it over the tab (unless you want to call Combi and ask?)...and yeah, that harnes is pretty floppy on the tightest setting :( (I don't recall it being loose on Leah on her ride home, though).

Congratulations on new baby Chloe! I hope you had an easy delivery :).

And yay about the hospital being so on the ball!

Yep, that little tab is the problem. I could fit about 2 fingers under the strap and it wouldn't pull any tighter.

So, I ended up taking Chloe & the seat to the Safekids fit yesterday, even though I didn't have an appointment, in the hopes that someone would be able to help me. The CPS person on duty was able to pull it just that much tighter and now she fits much better.

Thanks!
