My MIL has a Decathlon for my 7 month old nephew and is trying to install it in her 2001 Tahoe. She needs it outboard because she can't reach to put him in the seat if it is in the center. The shoulder strap is tugging the carseat and tilting it, how do we prevent that?

I searched and see mentions of the built-in lock-offs on the Britax preventing the tilting, but no instructions on just how to make that happen.

The trick is to use the lockoffs and then do NOT lock the shoulderbelt (the manual says lock the lockoff furthest from the buckle, but do both or whichever stays closed the best).

Hopefully you still remember all your other Britax RF installing tricks? (how to get the lockoffs to close, how to tether, etc)

should the shoulderbelt go through the lockoff too, or just the lapbelt part of the seatbelt?

Tether is fine, but I don't recall any tips about how to get the lockoffs to close? It seems like the seatbelt is too close to the edge of the lockoff?

Yeah, ideally both belts go through the lockoff... try pushing or pulling the base forward or back to get the belts in there so that they aren't totally overlapped...then the lockoffs should close.
