View Full Version : Harness Heights in Child Seats?

Can anyone tell me what child seats have the highest harness slots? (Measurements if you know them.)

DS is 3 1/3 yrs old, 34 lbs, and 40 inches tall--currently in an Evenflo Triumph. I need to check his ear height in this seat, but I think he is getting close to outgrowing it. (And, his 10 week old baby brother will need this seat within the next couple of months most likely too--he's also a long baby.)

I'd like to harness for as long as possible. I have a non-latch vehicle (1996 Nissan Maxima), though we are likely to get a new larger vehicle (possibly minivan) within a year or two.

I'd like to know the top harness heights on these (and any others that would be recommended in our situation).

Britax Regent
Radian 65
Recaro Como/Signo
Cosco Apex
Any other options?

Thanks so much!

Regent-21", 80 lb. limit
Radian-18", 65 & 80 lb. limit
Signo/Como-19", 70 lb. limit
Apex-17", 65 lb.limit
Marathon/Decathlon/Boulevard-17", 65 lb. limit
Safe Voyage Deluxe-17", 55 lb. limit
Triumph Advance-18", 50 lb. limit

I think these are right. Someone please correct if I'm wrong.

Yeah, looks right... if we we want to talk ages, the Regent lasts till at least age 8 or nine, sometimes longer, and all the others till about age 6 (4-7 depending on how leggy a kiddo is but 6 is 'average')

Do you know the heights of the other Britax seats that go to 65 lbs?

Where do you find the info?

Thank you.

She listed them...Marathon/Decathlon/Boulevard, 17 inches. I think Britax has that listed on their site, www.carseatdata.org is reported to have numbers (I haven't checked), and mostly we diligent carseat geeks take our measuring tapes to carseat stores and memorize the slot heights :)

Oops, gotta read. Thanks.

So, getting a Marathon/Decathalon/Boulevard would probably provide better service than a Radian 65? And we wouldn't have to worry about the head rest?

No, a Radian has higher top slots than the Marathon. Are you talking about the Apex (which does have headrest issues)? If so, I'd do a Marathon over the Apex (and if money is an issue, check out the Fisher Price SVD).

Is Graco still going to make the SS2 go to 50#? and if so how tall will the harness slots be?

They couldn't pass testing, so it's indefinitely delayed :(. Top slots are a generous 17 inches, though, so still a great choice for a taller skinny kid (many kids are too tall for 17 inch seats right at 40 pounds, anyway).
