DD is 5 months and 18 lbs. She is currently in a Safeseat 1, and I intend to keep her in this seat until she outgrows it (at this point it will be by weight before height--she is only about 26.5 inches). It doesn't look like she will fit the seat for as long as most children. I'm just curious at what seats will be an option for us when she outgrows the safeseat. I don't think I'm going to be able to get away with keeping her RF as long as I have kept DS (he will be 3 at the end of the month, 28 lbs and still RF in a Marathon). I have an extra Marathon that we use for my DN when she is with us and I was just going to move DD to it. I was wondering if there was a better seat to move her to for FF though. She has very very chunky large thighs and has extremely broad shoulders. My only experience is with DS who is a string bean and fits the Marathon so well. I'd like to just move her to a Marathon when the time comes, but thought I would ask here first.

If I have to FF her by 18 months I'm going to be so sad. How do cope if your older child is RF and younger is FF? Do you just go ahead and turn your older child FF also?

Thanks,
Heather

Lots of seats will be going to 35 pounds RF soon...all the Britaxes, the Coscos and the Evenflo Triumph Advance... the cheapest thing to do would be get a Scenera to RF her longer, and then put her in the MA.

And as for reassurance, have you SEEN my chunky butt baby go to a normal toddler? I promise, yours will slow down, too ;) http://picasaweb.google.com/joolstag/Leahincarseats She was WAY chubbier than my string bean older kids, so I did a fair amount of my own freaking out.

(this picture is the worst... look at all the chins! http://picasaweb.google.com/joolstag/LeahInCarseats/photo#4968702826670653458)

Agreed. I'm looking at an 18 lb 5.5 mo on my lap. His older brothers were at least this big. DS1 is 34 lbs at 4 yrs and DS2 is still RF in a Roundabout at 2.5 yrs, 27 lbs.

DS was pushing 20 lbs at 6 mos, was 25 lbs at 12 mos, is now ~30 lbs at 22 mos, so I'm confident he'll make it to at least 2+ RFing in his MA. Still 75th percentile height and weight. He's a chunker, big thighs, big shoulders, fits nicely in the MA.
