When is it time to switch Marathon?

I've seen 4 different alleged limits - is it 49", ears level with restraint shell, 65 lbs or shoulders above top slots? Or is it time to change if any one or more of the above conditions are met?

Yup, it's when whichever of those conditions is met first. Almost always, for most kids, it's when the shoulders creep above the top slots :)

Thank you very much for the prompt response! And yep, I wondered how any child's ears ever got above the restraint shell without having the shoulders' condition met yet. Seems almost physically impossible. In any event, we're in the shoulders' creeping camp, so I'll be buying soon.
