My father has a little 4 door Saturn. We want to put a carseat for DS in his car for emergencies. We have a spare Marathon that we may use (that will be placed in my car when DD moves from her Safeseat--it's a 2006 not affected by the recall). Here is the problem, however. The seatbacks in the rear of my father's car do not lock in place. He bought it used from carmax and cannot seem to tell me if they are broken or if they are not supposed to lock. They stay up and click into place, but don't lock (IYKWIM). I cannot safely put a carseat in that situation (DS is RF). Anyone who owns a Saturn Sedan, do your seatbacks lock into place? DH and I are trying to get my father to either get it fixed or get another car--this one is 7 yrs old and on it's way out.

Thanks,
Heather

Isn't that what the lockoffs are for on the Britax seats?

RF I'm worried about the seatback flying in DS face if it isn't locked into place though.

Sorry, I misread -- I thought it was a typo and you meant seatbelts....

No clue on that one. Maybe the Britax seat itself would brace it??

I am NOT a tech, but we had a 1994 Saturn Coupe (2 door) with a RF MA installed in it. It was checked and installed by a super tech in my area.

When the MA was installed, there was no way the vehicle seat could have flipped down from regular forces. I wouldn't think it could have flipped with crash forces. The MA sits up so high that it pushes against it.

Hopefully a tech will chime in about it, though!
