Just received my Marathon that I ordered online. Love the denim cover!

Two Questions:

1) Where can I find the manufactured date on the carseat? Is the only place to find it on the straps? Gets me a bit nervous being I have seen people recommend taking the straps out and using on other carseats… (…if I understood correctly...) I am assuming there is a place to see the date on the actual shell...Hmmm...Ok - so i know I am probably being paranoid but can someone just confirm if/where the manufactured date is on the shell.

2) Thanks to everyone here, I will be installing the seat RFing! :) It will be going into my 2004 Accord. About to read the manual but can anyone recommend if its better in the middle or outboard seats?

Thanks!

There's a sticker on the outside of the shell right about at the level of the third slots up, under the elastic of the cover...that'll have the serial number and DOM (I forget if it's left or right, easy enough to check both sides :) ).

I'd honestly do it with the LATCH in the side seat... it's going to be SO much easier to install than the center with the seatbelt, and the LATCH is pushed toward the center, so that's several extra inches away from the door. You can choose which side works best for you (make sure the driver has comfortable legroom to drive safely, that's the main criterion).

The only tough part would be the 'Swedish tethering' that the manual sort of shows drawings for, but doesn't really picture...post back when you start to deal with that and I think one or two of us must have that vintage of car to know exactly what to tie the tether connector strap to (it's that little strap attached to the top tether, you tie it to a solid bit of metal, like the back of the front seat track).

Here's the pics from DH's 2006 Accord. I haven't actually installed a RF seat, but LATCH outboard is going to be the easiest install. I would start with that and then work your way up to the center seatbelt (no center LATCH) - those RF lockoffs are a PITB, IMO.

This is where I would tether for center or outboard:
