View Full Version : Will the Regent fit in my Jeep? Replacing Apex Elite

Our Apex Elite isn't working out. 3yr DS, 37 lbs, 40.5 inches. The center buckle is so wide that it's cuts into DS's thighs. DS isn't overweight, but that buckle is very very wide. We're leaning toward the super expensive Britax Regent, but I'm worried it won't fit in our 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (no latch). We're buying this afternoon after nap. I want a harnessed booster-ish seat. We can use our Britax RA in a pinch, but he's truly outgrown it. Will the REgent fit in my car? What other options do you recommend for a harnessed seat for older toddler?

Not sure about the Regent info, I don't have one. But about the Apex buckle - did you order the new longer crotch strap that is available? It raises the buckle higher so it doesn't pinch the thighs. It's free if you call or email Cosco.

If you are buying the Regent from a B&M store, make sure it fits by trying it first. If it d/n fit, you could try a Radian. Again, make sure it fits by trying first. Or order from Target.com and return to a store if it d/n fit.

Safeguard Child Seat? (lol, just kidding, it's over $400, but practically installs and tightens itself...)

Makes the Regent look like peanuts, lol.

I hope the new buckle works out, though, for the Apex. I'm almost positive the Regent would fit in your car, you can try them out at BRU...

Super Expensive? I dunno...have you ever seen one? Really worth the money, that's why we're all so nuts for it :D (Also, made in the USA... it costs more to pay people in North Carolina than China, lol)

Thing is, I'm just so tired of looking for a seat. We've been at for, like, three months. I want this to be over. I thought the Apex would be ok, but that buckle is a pain in the ass. I'll get the extender thingie, and then it's going to grandma. As for our permanent seat, The Regent is just so huge. We'll pronbably get it (no, didn't work out to go after nap yesterday, so hopefully today). I'm not opposed to spending money on it; I just am having a problem figuring out what the best choice is that I can get "off the rack" and not have to order online. Tired, tired, tired.

Yeah, I hear ya...there's really a serious hole in the market of decent forward facing higher weight seats :( :( :(
