I retrieved this message on another Board and thought it might be of use to some of you who bought Peg Perego Travel systems.
Primo Viaggo and Pliko Infant Car Seats/Travel Systems Recalled Detroit, MI (SafetyAlerts) - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published a recall by Peg Perego USA Inc. affecting certain Primo Viaggo infant car seats, Pliko Travel System and Primo Viaggo Systems.
A small percentage of these car seats and car seat/stroller combination products have a bottom latch mechanism on the seat, on the left, side that does not completely engage the latching rod. This is due to the improper positioning of the metal reinforcing bracket of the latch mechanism during manufacturing.
The Models affected by this recall are:
Primo Viaggo infant car seat (Part Nos. CS00MU1MR41TF41 and
CS00MU1MR41WD41);
Primo Viaggo infant car seat with base (Part Nos. CS00US1BP41GS45,
CS00US1BP41TV41, CS00US1NP41TR34, CS00US1PF41NF49,
CS00US1PF41RA41, CS00US8BP53DV53, CS00US8BP53RS53,
CS00US8BP53RU53, and CS00US8BP53SK13);
Pliko Travel System (stroller bundled as a single product) (Part Nos.LV34USLBP41TV41, LV34USLRC41GS46, LV34USNBP53DV53, and
LV34USNBP53SK13);
Primo Viaggo System (stroller bundled as a single product) (Part Nos.ST33USLBP41TV41, ST33USNBP53DV53, ST38USLPF41NF49, and
ST38USNRU53NF45).
Peg Perego will notify its customers of the defect and provide instructions on how to identify affected seats and perform the repair.
Peg Perefo USA Inc. has established a temporary line that can be used to obtain more information about this safety recall. However, please be advised that this line can only handle a limited number of calls and the hold time can be up to 20 minutes. The
temporary number for questions concerning this recall is 800-671-1701.
Peg Perego is working quickly with the telephone company and will have established an 800 number dedicated to addressing this recall by Monday, July 2, 2000
