1.5" wool pile for vegetarians and animal lovers. the shorn fleece is attached to a woven back and is machine-washable. apparently the synthetics provide padding but do not keep baby cool. i couldn't stomach the hunk o' flesh aspect of the bowron fleece insert, and i started hitting the searches... i was so pleased to find this! they also make luxe mattress & crib pads, good for keeping baby cool and dry at night.
