Hello! I recently took my P3 on a trip and the airline broke it - surprise, surprise! Now that Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, I want to buy a cheap umbrella stroller that I won't care about if it gets damaged. My daughter is 10 months old and weighs just over 21 pounds. Any suggestions?

We have a cheap $20.00 kolcraft stroller from BRU. There might be even cheaper ones out there, but I've seen other strollers just like mine out there everywhere with older toddlers in it.

Maybe a chicco caddy? it reclines and has a hood.... or maybe the kolcraft reclining umbrella, both are $50 or less and should be good for that sort of trip without totally lacking in comfort.

What about either the Kolcraft Cat and Dog Stroller (Eclipse), it has a nice basket, full recline, easy fold and is light. It's $40 at babiesrus.com

Or the Kidco Grand Finale it is sort of similar to your P3. You can get one on ebay today...for $60, it comes with a bassinette too (not that you need it right now). I just got this for my mother-in-laws house.

Or the Kidco LS3000, replaced the Grand Finale

Or the Kidco Maverick or Elan I think it's a copy of a Mac, don't know how good a copy though :) Also, light, umbrella style

Hope that helps!

I *love* my Chicco Caddy. It weighs nothing and I can easily push my 17 pounder one handed (can actually turn her in a complete 360 degree circle with one hand). The swivel wheels are fairly rugged and they can be locked to go over different types of terrain. It comes with an attached strap, a rain hood, and a carrying case. There isn't a basket but I just got a cheap net bag. There's also flip up canopy but I find that's not extremely useful unless the sun is up over a 45 degree angle or you have the ability to position your baby just so. Mostly it keeps the rain hood in place. One of my favorite features is the 5 point harness. It's not fancy/padded or anything but it definitely keeps my little lurcher from leaning too far forward. All in all, I find it much nicer than the cheapo umbrella strollers and I got it for only $15 more.

My suggestion would be for the Chicco Caddy! I have a friend who got one and she loves it! It is lightweight and steers great.... and you still have a bit of recline if baby decides to knock out! Buy one of those mesh/net bags to hang off the back and you are set!

Good Luck

I totally agree. I bought it as a bang-around-town stroller (we live in the city), but it's so easy to use that I use it all the time. Even over my $300 Mac Global. My only problem with the Caddy is that it's a little too short for me, but otherwise, it's great.
