Can someone help me run down the pros and cons of both of these strollers?

At this point what my ideal stroller would be -

- semi-lightweight - will be using it not only for walks on paved roads around the neighborhood but also for mall trips, etc.
- one handle bar for one handed steering (for when we do neighborhood walks w/ the dogs too)
- child's tray
- parent's tray/cup holder
- will fit the Graco Snugride
- one handed fold if possible
- good enough for walks around the neighborhood and parks on paved streets until we move to a jogging stroller

I know that no stroller is going to meet all of those requirements so we are going to have to give up some of them. I saw that the Atlantico had the parent's tray and the one handle bar which I really liked although I saw it is a few lbs. heavier than the P3. I've read on here that the Graco Snugride can be used w/ the P3 even though that is not advertised. Can it also be used with the Atlantico?

Can someone compare the P3 to the Atlantico for me?

Thanks in advance! You guys have invaluable knowledge! : )

Here's a review I did on the Atlantico after test driving it and the P3 at USA baby:

I have a 2002 model Alantico on it's way to me and on a whim I bought a 2001 Pliko (which I had not planned on getting but found a great deal on my local Craigslist). I'll probably keep the Pliko in my trunk at all times for short errands and will use the Atlantico for all day outings to the zoo, etc.

Latia,

Wow, what a great review! Thanks so much! I'm thinking that the Atlantico has more of the options we are looking for and I'm leaning toward that one. The only question I have left is whether the Graco Snugride could be used with the Atlantico like it can be with the P3 (even though this isn't advertised). Do you know the answer to this?

Thanks so much for posting the link to your great review!

Sorry, I don't know that answer, but I do know that the newer 2004 Atlanticos are 2 inches wider than the P3 so if the snugride fits "snuggly" in the P3, then those extra 2 inches would probably prevent it from being so snug in an Atlantico.

Marilyn at a Running Stroller has the Atlantico on closeout - looks like they are being discontinued?

I had the same dilema, and I just test drove both of these strollers yesterday. At first I was leaning towards the Atlantico, but by the time I left the store, I had decided on the P3. Here are my 2 cents:

The Atlantico just seemed a little too big. I know it is not that much bigger, but it seems bigger. It is wider and bigger when folded. The handle is further away from the carraige, so it seems to be longer (not sure if it actually is though).

The P3 is easier to open and close, lighter, and easier to pick up with the handle on the side. I also like the idea of hanging bags on the P3 separate handles. You have to access the basket on the P3 from the side - not a big deal to me. I really did not like the parent tray on the Atlantico. It seems kind of plasticy and tacky to me although I know some mothers love it. I prefer to put my things in a bag, not a tray.

Yes, the Atlantico is plusher, but how plush does a stroller need to be? I think the P3 is plush enough, and since I have read such great reviews about it, it must be pretty good! Overall I think the P3 is a good compromise on a lot of great qualities.

There is something going on with the Atlantico's. The salesperson at USA Baby said she thinks they are discontinuing it. She only had the floor sample left, and apparently there are no 2005's coming in. It is still on the Peg Perego website though.

Sorry so long! Hope this helps!

According to the stats, I think the Atlantico is the same weight, or only a pound more in weight.

Moms do use the Snugride with the Atlantico. It fits in there well and use bungee cords to secure it - I have tried putting the Snugride in it in the store.

It is being discontinued, so you can probably get it for a discount now.

I have an Atlantico and it's a GREAT stroller! I love it. It handles rough terrain very well, I haven't had the need for a jogging stroller since it does great around the neighborhood, parks, paved streets, cobblestones, etc.

I LOVE my Atlantico!

So with that being said I used a Graco Snug Ride in mine and it did clip in. It clipped into it just as it would into a Graco stroller. There is a little red hook on the back of the car seat(well it was red on mine 2002) that clips under the child tray. I specifically checked to see how they clipped into the Graco's and it was the same.
I actually pulled up on the seat when it was in the stroller and the whole stroller lifted up. I felt it was safe. But I also want to add I did not use it as a travel system that much, rarely actually. Just quick ins and outs. I preferred to put her in the stroller itself.

HTH!

We have an Atlantico also. They are being dicontinued from what I've heard. I really like the way it handles and I also really like the features on it (parent/child tray, fabric, basket, etc.). The only downside for me right now is the way it folds. It's a little tough for me to get in and out of the trunk, and it takes up a lot of space. It is longer (I think) than some other strollers, but my husband and I really like that feature because we aren't constantly kicking the back of the stroller when we walk. With our infant we are using the Graco Snugride with no problems!
