So, I've only had my Atlantico for about a week and I noticed it was a little hard to close, but when I tried it out in the store originally I remember it taking me a few tries to get the fold right so I thought I just needed to get used to it. Well I finally examined it carefully and noticed a problem. The way it folds is to first push in two buttons on the side to get it to unlock. Well, the #1 button works fine, but when I press in the #2 button it rotates down and half of it gets stuck under the opening and it doesn't unlack the lock at all and I have to pretty much reach all the way down and unlock it myself. I just called Peg and they said the only way to fix it would be for me to send it to them. They said I'd have to pay for the shipping to get it to them and then they'd ship it back for free. Ugh, this sucks. What should I do?

Is it a 2002? Most likely it is because there were alot of other people complaining about the folding mechanisims with the 2002's. Peg must of fixed the problem because I have had no problems with my 2003. It could be a little tricky but I never have to unlock it myself. The buttons never get stuck. Try calling them back to see if other's complained about the same problem. If it is faulty due to a design flaw they should pay the shipping.

Good Luck!

Ick! Sorry to hear that! It doesn't seem fair that you should have to pay anything if you've only had it a week.

Since you have only barely used it, can you just take it back to the store? Either that or call Peg CS back and get all drama-queen on them, kwim? ;p

Yes, it's a 2002. I bought it from a fellow board member/swapper on Ebay so I can't return it to the store. Maybe I'll call Peg again tomorrow.

Did she disclose the problem? I would ask to return it to her.

Caroline,
It was my Atlantico. I shipped it to Latia for free and sold it to her at a very considerable discount because she is a BBB person. In addition to the discount, I shipped to her for free, which cost me $25 even via Fed Ex Ground because I am in Ohio and she is in SoCal.

Latia,
I'm sorry you are having trouble with the folding mechanism. I never had a problem with it at all! I only used the stroller about once every 2 weeks, if that, so maybe that is why I never experienced any issues.

Since I have another Atlantico, I took it out to look at it and I know what you are describing. Are you able to put the button back into place? If so, does it work once you put it back into place?

It might be just as cheap for you to ship it to Peg Perego. But, if you want to return the stroller, we can discuss it via private email.

I personally would just use it. It sounds like you got a great deal on a great stroller, and if I am understanding you correctly, you indeed can close it, it is just a little more difficult than you would like. I would much prefer to reach down and unlock it myself once or twice a day than ship it back and forth--the hassle of shipping and being without my stroller would be far more trouble to me than to work with the stroller as is. You'll probably be used to it in a couple weeks and it will be 2nd nature to open and close it that way and not at all a big deal.
