I am considering this stroller and I was wondering if the recline is enough and if the seat is cushy enough for a newborn. I heard the 2005 has thicker padding - is it better for a newborn than the 2004? I am trying to get a decent deal so if I could get a 2004, that would probably be better. TIA!

We have an 04 or maybe it is an 03 MBUD and I put a Kiddapotamus Snuzzler in DS's seat from birth and he has been super cozy there. The recline is plenty for a newborn IMO. not totally flat but virtually. I think you are smart to get an 04 on a good deal and then just get the snuzzler to cozy the seat up. Amazon has them for $20.
Good luck!

I definitely agree. The snuzzler is great for a newborn - makes them very cmofy and cozy. It is MUCH easier to wash than the stroller fabric. Since the snuzzler is so affordable I'd probably get two so one can be on the stroller and one in the wash (my youngest had reflux so we always had a stroller liner). The Mountain Buggy is AWESOME, but I would not put a newborn on the canvasy fabric.

I don't think there is enough difference between the '04 and the '05 to justify the more expensive, unless you are tall and then the '05 makes more sense.

If the seat padding is the only thing you are concerned with between 04 and 05 I would definitely save the almost $100 as it is not cushy,
just lightly padded and the material is not soft for a newborn ons either year. As PP's said save the money and buy a liner.

That is defintely good to know - if I end up deciding on the MBUS, I think I will stick with the 2004's - I am 5'4 and will be the primary pusher - dh is 6' tall and would only be using this occasionally. Thanks everyone!

Lauren-

Check out the Valco. It's cheaper than the MBUS and more plush. I have the double version and it's great for Mia.

Thanks, Marisa! I can get a 2004 MBUS a little cheaper than the Valco but I will definitely check it out. Glad to hear yours is working out so well! Take care!
