View Full Version : Cupholders for P3?

I have pretty much decided on the P3, but the one concern I have is that the cupholder is too small. I have searched threads for add-on cupholder feedback, and it seems many options don;t work very well. I did find a thread about the Babu tray, including pictures of one on a P3, and it seemed to maybe work OK. If anyone has that , I would appreciate info on how it works on a P3. Specifically, When you put drinks in the holders, does the weight cause the tray to tip or fall off? Are the holders big enough for food-court type cups? Obviouly the stroller can't be folded with the tray attached, but can you just snap off the tray to fold, or do you have to undo the clamps? How much of a production is it to clamp it on and off?

I really would appreciate any input. Our USA BAby has the Babu tray, but if I buy it to try it, I cannot return it once it's open. I asked how I'm supposed to know if it will work on my stroller and they had no answer.

If nothing will work well on the P3, I may wait for the Zippy cupholders that I hear are comming. I like the P3 better, but I like the Zippy enough that the addition of a large cupholder will win me over.

TIA for any input!

I use a Skip Hop bag on my P3, and the pockets on it are large enough for drinks of almost any size. There are two of those large front pockets, so DH has a place to put a drink, too!

I tried the Babu tray on my P3 a few months back at Baby Outfitters (who are nice enough to have floor model testers). It fit pretty well, although I didn't have anything more than a 1/2 empty water bottle to test in the cupholders. I think it would hold the food court type cups, as long as they are the kind that get narrower at the bottom. I don't think the cupholders are more than about 3" in diameter. As far as folding it, I think you could go with just unhooking one of the clamps, and then the tray would lay down against one of the handles for folding, if that makes sense. I dind't think to try that at the store, but I think that's what I've read on here in the past. If you do get the Babu and don't end up liking it, you can always post it for sale on Swap.

I also have a Maclaren Organizer that I've used on my P3, and it works pretty well. The actual bottle pockets are too small for anything but the thinnest water bottles and baby bottles and sip cups. The there's a pocket in the middle of those that I've used for larger food court cups. Just make sure you take the cup out before your toddler gets out of the stroller, or you'll have Orange Kaboom smoothie all over the floor of the ladies' restroom!

Hope this helps!

I also had a Stroller Holder II cupholder on my P3 for a while there. It worked okay, but b/c of the shape of the tubing/frame, the only place I could attach it was down on the lower frame, think knee-height. It could stay attached when folded though. I took it off and stopped using it when I got the Mac Organizer, though.

Here's pics, let's see if this works:

Thanks for the tips!

When using a bag to hold drinks, does it have to be a skip hop or mac organizer, or would another (less expensive) bag work as well, as long as the pockets are the right size? Could I even use a homemade one? Not that I can sew, but my mom can-she even made my wedding gown, so a stroller bag would be easy for her, as long as I give her the specs. Of course if a skip hop works best, it will be worth it for me.

Thanks for the stroller holder II pics. I have one, and had heard that it kind of fit on the P3, but couldn't figure it out myself in the store, so the pictures help!

I would think that a homemade bag would be okay, as long as you're not carrying very hot liquids in it. That's pretty much the "rule of thumb" for any cupholder, I think. I sew too, and would recommend using a heavy material, such as a denim or heavy cord, for whatever you make.

I've seen another bag in BuyBuyBaby's store that a friend has (MamaKath here), and she likes it. It should be the second image below. It's $15ish at Right Start.com. The first one is by Alphabetz, and is $4.95 at BuyBuyBaby.com. They'd both probably work well for your purposes, holding even larger food-court type cups, unlike the Mac Organizer, and costing quite a bit less!

Hope this helps!
