MBUS 2005 - any input?

Hi, I am doing the debate on a 2004 or 2005 MBUS. From what I've read here and on other posts, the 2005 has the extended handlebar, easier locking mechanism, easier wheel removal and larger basket/more pockets.

Please help me with any and all input:

1) What is the fabric like on the 2005? How does it compare to the 2004?
2) Where is the extra padding? On the back only or the back and sides?
3) Is the basket on the 2005 REALLY functionally larger or similar in size? Clearly looks better on the MBUD but I'm wondering about the MBUS
4) Is the sunshade on the 2005 larger or the same as the 2004?
5) Will the child sit more upright in the 2005 with its increased structure than the 2004 or about the same?

Hi Audrey- I have an 05 MBUS and I *love* it!! Every time I take it out I love it more and more. I can't compare to the 04 but I don't think you can go wrong with the 05. The basket is big IMO- I stuffed tons of stuff in it yesterday at the mall. It steers like a dream (even while holding my tray in the food court) and both my kids like riding in it. DS is 4 1/2 and he loves to kick back in it when DD doesn't want to ride. I don't mind the fabric but if I had a baby, I would definitely buy a fleece liner.
I just can't say enough good things about it. I loved my Frog but this is right up there with it (and much cheaper :) )

Well, this is what I've figured out for those who are interested:

- the extra padding is on the seat back and bottom.
- the basket on the 2005 is larger and lower (shallower?) than the 2004
- no change in the sunshades on 2004 and 2005
- I think the child will sit pretty upright in both the 2004 and 2005

I still am not clear what the differences are in the fabrics - the 2004 looks like a thin nylon. Is the 2005 a thicker polyester?

Hi Audrey,

The 2005s are 3 pounds heavier. To me, that was a big deal since I like to power walk. If you're tall, you'd probably want the 2005 just for the adjustable handlebar, but it depends on how you walk. I'm 5'5, but I like higher handlebars.

The 2004 fabric feels like a medium-thick canvas. It doesn't feel nylon-y (like a Zooper) at all.
