My DH has finally announced that he's willing to take our 3yo on runs with him, if I can find a running stroller for him, so here I am. Does anyone have any recommendations on which strollers are good for a serious runner? (Not jogging mind you, running!)

DH is 6' tall, so it'll have to have a high enough handle height for him. I've heard a real fixed front wheel is a must, and that larger tires are best. Ideally we'd like to spend around $150-250. Any suggestions?

ETA: I've been trying to find out how wide the Kool Stride Senior jogger is--does anyone happen to know? (The entrance to the running path my DH frequents is restricted so we have to make sure any jogger we get would fit through.)

TIA,
Jennifer

BOB has great strollers for serious runners. I got the SUS (Sport Utility stroller) because it has tires that are good if you are going to be on unpaved surfaces as well as paved. However, if he's a serious road runner, then the Ironman seems to be the best because it has road tires. It's a bit pricier than the other.

You can find deals online. I got my SUS (not the deluxe) on a great sale from http://www.arunningstroller.com/ because it was a 2005 model, this was in February.

Also, check out http://www.joggingstroller.com/home.jsp - there are reviews there.

I haven't used it to run since my baby is only 3 months old, but I love it so far! I've just been walking with it and the ride is amazing - great suspension.

Our friends have a BOB Revolution. Last year's model started having a swivel wheel that can lock. I know that people say this kind of stroller won't work as well for serious runners, but they haven't had a problem. It's a nice option if you end up using for anything else. Otherwise, agree that Ironman is great. I'm also looking at Dreamer Design. They have large wheels that are supposed to be great for serious runners, and some models are made of some alloy that will resist rust if you live near the ocean.

just thought i'd pass this on in case one of the strollers you're looking at might be available at REI. they are having their anniversary sale right now and they carry BOB's and Baby Jogger's. you can get 20% off any one full price item (they define sale item's as those ending in ._3 and ._9).

We have a BOB Sports Utility. Ours is about a year and a half old. I use it as our neighborhood stroller--daily walks of a mile or more for the first year (DS is in preschool now so I do my walking without him most days now) I've been quite happy with it. I am not a runner.

DH has used it for running and says it is very good. Also, we loaned ours to a friend who is a serious runner (training for a triathalon, former division one basketball player, etc) and they went and bought one just like it. Our friend is well over 6 feet tall so I'm assuming it works fine for tall guys.

REI is having their anniversary sale. All BOB strollers are 20% off. Also I've heard good things about Kool-Stride joggers. Baby Jogger used to make joggers with 20 in wheels so you could look on craigslist or ebay to find one cheap.
