Can anyone provide feedback on the JEEP Wrangler All-weather Twin Sport Umbrella Stroller? Our nanny will be taking care of our 5 month old son and our neighbor's 2 1/2 month old daughter. We are going to go in together to buy a double stroller for our nanny to take the kids on a walks around the neighborhood and to the park. We realize the Jeep isn't the Mercedes of strollers, but it seems like an adequate and affordable option. Can anyone provide us any feed back and/or equivalent alternative suggestions?

Our big questions are:
1) how is it for younger infants?
2) how does it do on city streets and sidewalks? We live in Chicago and the stroller will be used almost exclusively outdoors rather than in the mall etc.
3)how durable is it?

PS We have the Valco single and as such I know there are much more durable, better strollers for walking around city sidewalks, but given the situation (a nannyshare) the price of such strollers are out of the question. So, we know whatever stroller we buy won't last for ever, but we are hoping to find one that won't fall apart after a month or two.

Thanks for the feedback!

My issue with these is the seat narrowness (probably not too bad a problem for the kids were talking about) and the low handle/wheel kicking problem (if nanny's on the shorter side, also not a problem).
For a few bucks more, the Duorider tends to be a very durable, comfortable stroller http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/602-1620409-9062228?_encoding=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B0006IHTPA I know it has a great recline and is super easy to push (I bought one for my 6 and 4 yo's used, to get to school, and it did great with them, and also with my friend's newborn and my 4 yo).
I hope someone else has some good experience with the Jeep (it's made by Kolcraft, which is actually the best 'el cheapo' brands, IMO...I've had a few great kolcrafts...I just love the duorider a bit more).

Good luck!

I think I would not get the jeep because it seems that your babies are a bit small for the umbrella type stroller. I'd actually get a duoglider (graco tandem) or a used peg perego tender if you can find one on craigslist.

The Jeep double umbrella doesn't look like it's great for infants and seems like it's more for indoors than outdoors! How about looking for a second hand double jogger OR

Have you checked the Stroller swap board???? Maybe someone there has a nicer quality double for a good price???

Good luck

I also live in Chicago and have a couple of friends who own the Jeep as a secondary stroller and love it because it's lightweight, folds easily & compactly, and works well for travel. That being said, I'm not sure how well it would hold up under regular outdoor use. I also don't think a 2-1/2 month old could use it since I'm pretty sure the seats don't recline all the way.

You might want to check Craigslist - I have recently seen several older model Peg Perego doubles there in the $60-75 range. The quality/durability would probably be much better vs. the Jeep, and the kiddos will be more comfortable too. Plus, you could probably resell it when you were no longer using it for almost as much as you paid originally.

I am also a closet fan of the Graco DuoGlider and several of my friends in nannyshare situations have found that stroller to be a good option for them. It does surprisingly well on the city sidewalks, the seats have full recline, and the basket is AWESOME - which might be helpful for a nanny lugging around stuff for 2 kids.

I have the Jeep single and really like it. It's lightweight, sturdy and has pretty big wheels for the size stroller. That said, it doesn't recline at all. For the age of infant you're looking at, you really do need some recline. I'd go with a Maclaren Rally Twin. It's all the things that the Jeep is, but has a recline, is a more durable brand, and is made for city life. If the price new is too high, and I think they're around $200 new, I'd look on ebay for a used one.

Where have people been able to buy this stroller? Our BRU is perpetually out of stock on it, and Wal-Mart only sells it online. Our SuperTarget also doesn't carry it.

Thanks!
