We put together our P3 yesterday. Although it was easier than the Valco, I am confused about the hood versus the sun canopy. Is it a true statement that the hood/sun canopy kind of billows around until extended or the bars are used? It just doesn't seem right. And what is the difference between the hood and sun canopy? I thought those were the same thing?

Finally, when you put in the carseat (we have the snugride in blackwell which looks great with the hip hop), do you need to use the belt attachment? It seems somewhat secure resting on the snack tray. . . I think I have read that others do that as well. My husband even suggested getting a Peg carseat to make sure it snapped in (which is crazy to me because he is not one to spend money). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

Hi Kindra. If you lift up a teensy bit on the end of the snack tray (the end of tray facing away from stroller) then you can get the snugride to "catch" or snap in.
As far as a hood- many people call it a canopy (here in the U.S.) but the two are different. In the U.K. (I don't know where you are located) Mamas and Papas (which is the u.k. name for Peg Perego) carries both products. The hood is the extendable rounded cover while the (sun) canopy is more of a flat top which is attached to the frame. I'll try to find some links.

Here is a picture of a canopy on a caravel chassis:

I don't know if this link will work but here is one on a pliko or p3 (I think!)

Have you snapped the hood to the back of the seat? This should keep the hood fabric from hanging loosely.

I don't know. I will check that. Thanks. Another question: Does the P3 recline to ninety degrees? According to the website, it seems to, but ours def. does not.

It reclines *almost* flat. Like 170 degrees (180 degrees is flat). It is considered flat enough for a newborn.

I think it's been mentioned here before that it will recline completely flat if you remove the two little pieces of plastic that are located in the recline mechanism on each side. I was looking at a P3 the other day and it definately looked like these two pieces of plastic keep it from reclining all the way.

I did that with mine and it does help it recline more flat. I wouldn't say completely flat, but very close to it. It doesn't seem to affect any other operation which I was afraid of when I first removed them, but I've had it like this for about 9 months now with no problems.
