I went to Costco today, and they were selling a red Maclaren stroller for $99. I think it said it was a Global Techno Classic. I probably have one of those words wrong, but I'm almost positive it had the words "Global" & "Techno" in the name. I can't find any information on it or find one that looks like it online. Does anyone know anything about this stroller?

Thanks,
Dette

The global & techno are two different strollers. Global has a "front bar". I know I've heard of the techno's being sold at Costco. Were the prices good?

We bought out Maclaren Techno XT at Costco for orginally $178. A couple months later we went back and it was $99. We had our receipt so they gave us the price difference. They lower the prices once the supply in store starts to get low. In our store there were only 3 left.

You can read all about the Maclaren Techno XT on numerous websites including Costco's.. The Maclarens on the Costco website are more expensive though.

We LOVE our stroller!

I saw a Maclaren Global (with the front bar) at our Costco for $99. The Global hasn't had a great reputation, but most of the issues were with the original version that was out several years ago.

We went to Costco today & looked at the Maclaren stroller again. It is the 2005 Global selling for $99 at our Costco. For a stroller that originally sold for around $300, that's a great deal. But I don't think I really need it. We have a Phil & Ted's E3 for the munchkins that I use for everything except air travel. We have our single 2003 Combi Saavy Soho for that. The Combi steers horribly compared to a Mac (which is why I've always wanted a Mac), but the Combi is super lightweight & has a carrying strap for easy carrying when marching up & down stairs to transfer to the smaller prop planes at the airports. We are thinking of selling the Combi & using this Mac Global for our "lighter" weight umbrella stroller when we don't use the all-terrain Phil & Ted's. But the Global is heavy. We can't use the Combi for our infant since it doesn't have a full recline & doesn't take a car seat. But I've got the E3 for my baby and don't see us traveling again until this summer.

Any reason we should get this Global since it's such a great price? I'm leaning toward saving the $99, but I am such a bargain shopper that I hate passing up good deals.

I had a Mac Global in 2003 and of the 10 strollers I've owned, it was my least favorite by far. It is HEAVY and doesn't have the easy steering of lighterweight Macs. For $99, I'd get the Mac Volo and use that as my lightweight stroller (it also has a carrying strap).

yup, i'd save the $99 and look at albeebaby, etc. for when they are clearing out a quest or something and pick one up then. like you said, you have the combi to get you thru until your newborn no longer needs the full recline and then you can trade in for something that steers a little better. i know albee regularly has quests for $139. you can easily add a carry strap to any umbrella using some of those velcro brand cord keeper wraps and any old shoulder strap from a bag or luggage you have hanging around. i've posted pics of mine before, if you do a search and can't find it, pm me and i'll post the pics again.
