Hi all -
I just "traded in" my e3 for a 2007 Bob Revolution. When I got the e3 (pre-baby) I wasn't thinking much about running, mostly about walks on and off pavement. I also liked the idea of the doubles feature, thinking that we might have kids close together. Well, since DS was born, I've started running regularly, and definitely want to wait a couple more years before the next one comes along. I still wanted something relatively compact and maneuverable, since taking DS with me on a run is only an occasional (less than 1x per week) thing. I also wanted something newborn-friendly, since I do plan on another baby eventually.
The Bob arrived yesterday, and I'm delighted with it. Here are the things that I like better than the e3:
-Fold - easier and more intuitive
-Canopy - it's huuuuuuuge compared to the sad little e3 sunshade. Plus, I like the peekaboo window instead of the translucent side panels of the e3.
-Seat height - DS sits higher off the ground
-Harness - even as a 26-lb 1 y.o., the e3 harness with big chest/belly pad was swallowing DS. The Bob harness is a more typical strap and clip harness.
-Front wheel locking - much easier on the Bob. No fiddling required
-Feels lighter to push - With the 16" rear wheels and suspension, it is *so easy* to push.
-Mesh pockets on seatback (for parents) and on the side of the seat (for baby)
-Foot brake. The operation of the Bob brake is much smoother and easier, and feels more solid.
-Can actually run with it. Okay, admittedly I'm very slow to begin with and I was wearing Danskos, but I did run just a little bit on our test drive, and I had no trouble with wobbling. It felt a little heavier to push than a 20" Baby Jogger I'd used, but much lighter and smoother than the e3.
-ETA: Quick release wheels. Very easy to release if you need to fit it into a smaller space.
Things I liked better about the e3:
-Doubles option. Just in case I end up with a 4 y.o. who still wants to ride in a stroller (doubtful, since even now he prefers walking, but still...)
-Color. I got the orange Bob, and it's a little on the drab side. The orange is rather earthy, and it's an accent color, rather than the main color. I really liked my all red e3. No red 16" 2007 Bobs - just (earthy) Orange, Navy, and a pink and brown combo. Ho hum.
-Seating position for baby. The full upright position of the Bob is still partially reclined, and once DS got into "stroller zone-out mode," he slumped quite a bit.
A draw:
-Maneuverability. Gotta love that swivel wheel!!
-Storage basket. Both are pretty unimpressive, but I don't tend to put a lot of stuff in my stroller, so this isn't a big deal for me.
I hope this info is useful!
