DH is finally back at work (two jobs, lol, one's a short term contract, though ;) ) and I mentioned I'd get him a stroller where he could look at the baby ("Such a thing exists?!?!!? Really? I should have had one with the last baby, she was so cute!!!!"...I got a giggle out of THAT, lol).

So what's a good manly walking stroller with a reversible seat? Uppa Baby Vista? Kolcraft Contours 4? I'm not feeling the bugaboo love, so I think we'll skip any of those (well, the Bee is cute, but it's the wrong animal for this shopping trip). My budget is, let's say, $600, and for once I want good resale value (um... unlike my phil and ted's smartbuggy? I haven't tried to sell it yet, but I doubt it'll sell for much, lol)....

Skip the Uppa Baby. I test drove one and checked it out really well and it just didn't *feel* like a stroller I'd spend almost $600 on. The front wheels kept locking while I was trying to steer, it was VERY hard to steer empty and the quality just wasn't there.

I say BEBECAR: the Vector, Racer ST, Icon (some are more exp than others) all have reversible seat. The quality is almost unmatchable. It's that good. I was shocked! Here's a link to the site I purchased from, Jaques is awesome! Plus you can buy one stroller say the Vector and if you want a different chassis you can buy that separately and the seat will fit both!

Zooper would be a less expensive alternative too. I just don't think they push quite as nicely.

Peg makes a reversible handle UNO that I thought wasn't too bad. In reverse mode the big wheel is in front (like the Bug) and it takes some getting used to in the steering dept.

Bertini: you could find a great deal on a Bidwell, Somerville London, etc. Nice strollers too.

Happy Shopping!!!!!! :) :) :)

Oh lordy, no... Leah's still a baby! :) (she's only 16 months and I'm stretching out her babyhood as long as humanly possible, lol).

Trina, gotcha, bebecar :)... I also live mere minutes from my trusty bertini dealer (www.totsongo.com)...might be worth a shot (plus she has the uppa baby G-lite, which might be more 'fun' than a Volo for my second mesh umbrella stroller, if it's any good to push, of course).

Funny of all my strollers DH likes the BBCAR best. Said it's like a 4x4 & he wanted to put a motor in it. Leave it to my gearhead!

Trina, any opinion on the Vector?...looks like a standard handle-anything model (paved zoo and sidewalks, mostly)... I'd probably choose Icon, but the Vector is for sale used from someone at a good price, lol. (and I already have 2 three wheelers, so I like them, but don't need more, lol)

Since I haven't seen one IRL I can just go by what Jaques told me, that it will handle most terrain. Like you said Zoo, Parks, Mall, etc. Nothing really *off roady* though. The two swivel wheels & huge basket are a bonus. I was going to buy a Vector chassis to use w/ my Stylo seat but my budget didn't allow for it yet :( darn bills! When will I win the lotto? Guess I'd have to buy a tix first, lol.

I'd go for it, esp. if the price is right :)

Yeah, darn that whole 'have to actually buy the ticket' part of the lottery :D

I couldn't tell from the page if there were any major differences in the seats that you could get? Are they all the same, or do any have a taller back? (The one that comes with that used vector is nice enough, but I always want to covet more!)

I have a Vector. It is so luxurious. It was my indulgence purchase for my 2nd baby. I already had a Zippy and a BOB, so it was completely unnecessary, but I love it. It's heavy, and it takes up a lot of room in my Pilot, even when folded, but I can't help but love it. It is so easy to push around the neighborhood and nearby lake w/ gravel path. Zoo and sidewalks, it can handle like a dream. My hubby, who was completely against my extraneous purchase, loves the way it pushes. Great basket - great zoo stroller! Let me know if you have any specific questions!

So, um, 'IF' you tell me to? So You're saying it might be good for what I'm looking for? The Verve is very high quality for what it is, so I imagine a Vigour would be fine :D (They also don't seem to go on sale, they must be ok, right?)

Actually, they are turning up really cheap on Ebay right now, if you do a search.

Ooooh, cool. Can I recommend the Clek Olli for your next booster? (rigid latch and backless, good for the kids as they get older ;) )

And my budget is slashed :P... had to buy airplane tickets to Hawaii...um... you don't want to know how much...<gag, choke>... So I think I'll go with the Kolcraft...I have to jump on something before this giraffe girl catches up to her 6ft tall grandma, she'll grow out of all strollers if I don't buy something like today, lol (and dh is totally walking with us every summer evening, so he'll adore having it sooner rather than later) (Ok, NOW I know how you all feel when you come for carseat advice and can't afford a Britax, hahaha)

Julie,
If you're talking about the Kolcraft Contours Options, I stumbled on one the other day. I had never heard of it, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I don't know anything about them, but it seemed substantial enough. I'd love to hear what you think of the quality, because BB gave Kolcraft a relatively mediocre mark.

If you go with it, I would be curious to hear how you like it - quality, usability, basket, etc.

BTW, while I am sorry that you hav to slash your budget, you are going to Hawaii...and that's pretty great! (Of course, we live in New York, so it's rarer for us to get there.)

Bon Voyage!

LOL, yeah, it's hard to 'complain' about 'having' to go to Hawaii for three weeks every year :D.

Someone here reviewed the Contours Options 4 and said she liked it so much she might stop using her Peg (Venezia? A big Peg), and her 2 yo DD fit in it with plenty of headroom... and Kolcraft is, I think, the best 'el cheapo' brand...so eh..I have a Target GC to put towards it...might as well go for it :)

Please keep me posted on whether you like the Kolcraft. I will look up the review...I am thinking about getting a BJCSS and will probably need another stroller for quick errands. Maybe that would be better than an typical umbrella for us since we are tall and have problems with handle height/wheel kicking etc.

I looked at your link and I noticed that your daughter ris 4 and still rides rear facing. I am sure you have already explained that somewhere else - could you tell me where I could find that? If not, can you explain it - I am all about safety (neurotically so) and would love to have my DD ride rear facing until she's in college. Is it that she's just small and didn't reach the weight/height limits?
