DH and I are setting up the nursery and we are thinking of getting a small book shelf about 36X30. But if we need to secure this is the future....is it possible to do so? How would we do this. The book shelf would be solid wood with a solid back. Thanks.

You can buy straps for this at you local hardware/Home Depot store, or buy the same thing as a Baby Safety item. They are the same things as 'earthquake straps'.

There are two kinds I have seen: a velcro type strap you attach to the wall and the furniture and a closure you attach to the wall with a loop through it that attaches to the furniture. Either one works fine if installed according to directions.

A much cheaper solution is to buy two large L brackets (that's probably not the right name...) and screw the bookshelf into the wall that way. That's what we did.
