Can the Kidco Safeway gate go 180 degrees?

Hi - I know this sounds odd, but I'm wondering if anyone who has the harddware-mounted, Kidco Safeway gate can tell me if it can open 180 degrees (assuming there is no hardware blocking it)? I want to be able to put a little latch on the OPPOSITE side of where the gate closes (normal position), so that if we have a party or guests where we want the gate open, we can latch it that way. That would mean the hardware would have to have it rotate freely 180 degrees.

We have the wood version of this, and it does go 180 degrees when nothing is blocking it (our handrail blocks it in one direction). It is a nice, simple gate, easy to operate and easy to adjust. And Consumer Reports rated it quite highly!
