We'll be going on a week-long camping trip in August, and I anticipate very little shade. Since Gwen will only be 5 months old, I'm trying to find good sun protection alternatives.

I've been reading about a new product by RIT (the folks who make fabric dye) called Sun Guard. You add it with your laundry detergent and it increases the UPF of clothes to 30+.

Has anyone out there used this yet? Any feedback? I'll be asking the ped about it tomorrow, but you guys are such a wealth of information, I thought I'd try here, as well. Thanks!

I used it on a load of ds's clothes. I can't really say how well it works since he is not in the sun during the hot part of the day. It has not irritated his skin, though, which I was worried about.

Thanks for your response! A rep from RIT told me that the product isn't recommended for babies under 2 since they are more likely to develop a rash... although their web site says "Good for every member of your family." We're going to give it a try.
