I'm looking for a safety hinge to attach to my toddler's toy box. It is an old-fashioned hand-painted wooden toybox with just a regular hinge, and he loves to open and slam it shut. Newer toy boxes come with a safety hinge so that it doesn't slam shut. Does anyone know of something I could buy (and where) & install to make his toybox safe? Right now, I'm afraid to let him near it... Sorry about the repetition, I've posted this before, but didn't get any answers.

I believe these are available at hardware stores (Lowe's, Home Depot, maybe Ace). My father got some to retrofit the toy box he made for me as a child, and I don't think he went anywhere special. I found these directions online, and they call the safety hinges "spring-loaded side lid supports." (http://familyfun.go.com/homegarden/building/feature/stiles1002_toychest/)

If you can't find them, let me know and I will ask my dad where he got his!
