We live in a smallish apartment and dd (crawling) is always going for the cat food. We've tried putting it up high but then the cats refuse to eat. Anyone know of any baby-proof pet bowls or have any other ideas for keeping little ones out of the kibbles?

TIA,

Alex

I'm going to be facing the same thing with a couple of French Bulldogs in a few weeks.

For cats, though, I think it will be easier to find a solution.

Have you thought about maybe a big rubbermaid bin upside down with a hole cut out for them to go in and out of?

Unless you have really giant cats, you can also gate off a room, but put the gate about 6-10" off the ground so the cats can squeeze under.

Good luck!

When we lived in our apt, we kept the cat food in the kitchen. This was a tiny room with two entrances, and not an eat-in. We opted for gating off both entrances. One gate was 6 inches off the ground to allow the cats underneath. This worked pretty well except for when 1)you forgot to shut the gate, 2)loose pieces of kibble made their way elsewhere in the apt and 3)DS was actually in the kitchen with you while you cooked. Good luck.

Our cat's bowl and litter box are in a bathroom, and there is a baby gate (we use a First Years hands-free gate with the foot pedal) blocking it. We removed one bar near the door jam so that Murray could slide through but Colin could not.
