At home, we use Tot-locks or the latches that screw into the woodwork. We're trying to do some general babyproofing at my mom's, though, and I'm wondering if it can be done without so much hardware. Do the adhesive cabinet latches work? Any other suggestions?

I don't know what kind of hardware is on your mom's cabinets, but we use the Sassy Links whenever we are in a pinch to babyproof. Some links tend to be pretty tight and Nick can't get them off the handles.

I have tried the adhesive latches and Nick can pull them off in no time, but he is also very good at breaking into just about anything (tot locks and sassy links are the only things that keep him out).

I sold a lot of those adhesive locks when I worked at the Right Start, and I don't remember any complaints about them (other than their price). Beware, though, that with either the adhesive or hardware mounted (except the Tot-Loc ones) a baby can probably get into the cabinet if he or she really wants to. James has already bypassed one on a drawer, and my niece just yanks hard if she wants to open a locked cabinet.

Which kind of links? Do you have a URL where I could see what they look like?

I'm sure you've seen these Rachel. They are the "Lively Links" shown at the bottom of this page: http://babyshowermall.com/sasbabtoygif1.html

Anyone try these?

Kidco's Drawer & Cabinet Locks work on most cabinets and drawers and prevent children from accessing what's inside.
