I need one for the top of the stairs and another for the bottom.
I was reading and I think the Kidco is the highest rated for the top one. Is it easy to open with only one hand while you're holding the baby?
What about for the bottom? Do you put the same one?
Tell me which one you have for top and bottom, please.
Thanks so much!

We have this one at the top of the stairs:

It is very highly rated, and very easy for us to open with one hand. It's pretty easy to close one-handed too (the only challenge is lining the top and bottom latches up - I use my foot to guide the bottom latch into place). We've been very happy with it.

We don't have a gate at the bottom (complicated, but with the layout of our house, we blocked off the hallway instead) but you can use a pressure mounted gate at the bottom if you want, just not recommended at the top.

We have the Evenflo Secure Solutions Swing Gate. We just installed it last week. It was only $35 at TRU and I think they are starting their Baby Sale this week, so you can probably get it cheaper.

It's wood and looked very similar to the Kidco gate. It opens and closes easily with one hand. I'm pleased with it and didn't find any negative reviews about it.

For the bottom we have an old pressure mounted gate.

We have a kidco at the top. Put it up when DD was 6 months old and never had a problem opening it or closing it.

For the bottom, we used an evenflo soft and wide because a regular pressure mounted gate didn't work well with our staircase.

Good luck!

LOL - now if you would just get out here and visit, you'd know the answers to those questions! Really, the Kidco is a simple, plain gate but has worked really well for us. It feels so solid, too! I think that you'll be happy with it!!
