Sorry if i sound extremely naive.. i was wondering, what is the danger in the outlets? They holes are too tiny for dd to put her finger into.. is just touching it dangerous? I have not put outlet covers yet but dh thinks we should.

Thanks!

Hi Rashmi -
I think the fear is that babies would stick something metal in the outlet and get zapped.

Rashmi,

I put plugs on all the outlet's I never use. I am planning on putting blank plates over them. I just haven't had the chance to go to Home Depot to buy them. For outlets I do use occasionally for vacumming etc, I bought these http://tinyurl.com/49eod I covered the power strip to the computer http://tinyurl.com/4rmhq and then covered the power strip plug with this http://tinyurl.com/45qch
HTH!

Rashmi,

Another problem that I hadn't even thought of was the baby pulling a cord out of the wall and touching the metal prong on the plug while doing it (DBF pointed it out to me). I actually got shocked like that back in Junior High. We've covered all the outlets not in use and are looking to buy/build box covers for the outlets we do use to prevent this from happening.

My brother shorted out the whole apartment building once by jamming a fork into an outlet. Fun...

I keep on procrastinating about this safety stuff...
