How do you babyproof the fireplace. We live in a warm client so we don't use it. However we are afraid of DS playing with the mesh screen that pulls across and getting his fingers stuck or hurt or him falling into the fireplace and hitting the log holder which could do serious damage. I don't want to get a fireplace screen because once he start pulling up he could pull it over.

Any ideas??

One other question, I have the plugs for the electric socket but what about phone jacks and cable plugs? TIA

We put the loveseat in front of the fireplace in the living room. In the den we haven't child proofed it, but it has glass doors and E's usually supervised in there. Our friends put a bookshelf (or maybe it was an entertainment cabinet) in front of theirs.

I know others have set up baby gates in the opening, which could work well (and not be too unattractive) depending on how the fireplace is built.

GL!
