Hi, everybody,

I live in Vancouver, Canada and unfortunately we do not have here many of the brands available in the USA.

I am not sure if there are any Canadian residents in this forum, but I would be grateful for any information about web sites selling baby products and shipping to Canada (info about other sites, say, for household products whould be very useful, too).

It would also be great if somebody could share their personal experience on internet shopping on US sites from Canada

Best regards,
Anna

Hello,
I too can relate to your frustration finding quality baby products in Canada. I am an American living in Canada and can not believe how difficult it is to find many baby items and companies to ship to Canada. My six month old has recently started on solid foods and I can't even find Gerber baby food anywhere. I called Gerber and they told me a hefty tariff has been imposed by the Canadian government making it impossible for them to sell here. Unbelievable! I was very disappointed, because Gerber has a great line of Organic baby food.
One store which seems to carry many nice baby items is TJ's Kiddie's baby store and they have several locations in Vancouver. Eddiebauer.com also ships to Canada, they have some baby items(bedding, etc.) I have ordered from Babystyle.com in the past but they no longer ship to Canada(shipping unreliable). A word of warning when shipping items from US sites to Canada: Ask which shipping method is used.
When I received my items from babystyle they were shipped via UPS and UPS Canada imposes a large brokerage fee, $40 Canadian per package not including the duties and tax and customs charges. I ordered 2 strollers, and some clothing which arrived in 3 boxes and UPS wanted to charge me $85.00 per box just to receive the items. So, be careful.
I have had decent service when items were shipped using USPS(US Postal Service and DHL. Another way to get around having to pay Canadian Customs fees is if you know someone with an address in the US. You can ship items there and have the person ship to you as a gift to avoid customs charges. It can be worth the hassle.
I will post any new websites I come along in the near future if they offer shipping to Canada.
Good Luck to you.

Try these two sites that are targeted to Canadians. There are sites out there since I've come across them in my searching for US sites. I've ordered from Candian firms but only if I can't find the product in the US. To echo what others have said the shipping and taxes are pricy to the US and I get hit again if I have to return or exchange something. You'd think with NAFTA and all that it would be easier. Right now it's too much hassle.

The parents site has a marketplace list and Kanggah has links to a candian parent webring that might help.

By far and away the best site shipping baby products in Canada is the Canadian version of babyuniverse.com at babyuniverse.ca. I have ordered from them before and they were great. As a Canadian living in the US the site is great for sending gifts to my Canadian relatives that still live up there. Even better is that you can ship from within Canada (no duties) and you pay in Canadian dollars so it is much cheaper (about 40% less)!

The Baby Catalog of America--www.babycatalog.com--is a GREAT website and it claims to ship to Canada.
