I work for a large infant/toddler furniture manufacturer (cannot say who). If you buy something from a web retailer, and when the product gets to your door and there is a problem -- like obvious freight damage, hidden freight damage, product is not in good shape, product is not as described, replacement parts are needed, color or finish is wrong, etc. -- does it make more sense to contact the web retailer from who you purchased the product, or to contact the manufacturer of the product directly and let their warranty kick in? Any comments are appreciated! Thanks.

I always start with the retailer and then go to the manufacturer if need be.

I am actually in the middle of this situation. I orderd a jogging stroller and it arrived with some scrapes along the tubing. I contacted the retailer first. She then contacted the manufacturer, who then contacted me. Now the manufacturer is working with me to get the tubing replaced.
